Diaper Fold Pouch

Good Morning Crafters! Yesterday was my first real day back in my craft room and it was nice to get something done.  I decided to do a video on the Diaper Fold Pouch.  I got this idea from SplitCoastStampers.com.  All you need is a square piece of pattern paper or light weight cardstock.  The pouch is a great idea for some goodies, especially if you are hosting a baby shower or you can place a card and make it an invitation.  The ideas are endless.  I hope you enjoy!

Happy Holidays!

I want to wish everyone Happy Holidays! I will be spending the holidays recovering from surgery.  I am hoping to be up and running again next week, especially after feeling so weak and dizzy for the past couple of weeks.  I still have so much to do like trying to wrap my daughters presents.  Now only if she would go to bed! My mom is going to take her out tomorrow so I can get some wrapping done.  I feel so behind.  I was so sick that I didn't get to make Christmas cards this year.  So, I am planning on doing New Year cards.  I am hoping they will get out on time because they are calling for 15 inches of snow where I live.  I am not looking forward to the snow.

I wish you and your family a safe and happy holidays.

It's been awhile

It's been a week since my last posting.  Between stress, dizziness, and inability to lift my head from the pillow, I couldn't get in my craftroom. Plus I had an explosion box to make for my mom.  She ordered three, but I finished the one she has to ship off to my aunt.  I should be back and running tomorrow.  Since I am taking the week of Christmas off, I am hoping to gettting several projects completed.  I will see you tomorrow for the Cricut Cardz Challenge!

From the Heart

Happy Sunday everyone!  I have been so busy with home life, work, and school that I barely have time to do anything else.  I feel like I have been in the bed trying to recoup all weekend.  Hopefully I can get into my craft room either today or tomorrow because I am going through some serious withdraws.  Here is a card that completed a couple of days ago but forgot to post.  This is a cricutless card.  I used cardstock from Recollections and Stampin' Up!  The stamp is Stampin' Up ! from the Watercolor Trio set.  The scalloped edge from my new Tim Holtz die cut.  I hope you enjoy.

Happy Holidays Card

I hope everyone is having a scrap-tastic day.  I have been so business trying to study for mid-terms this week.  I am really nervous because I don't understand all the material.  However, I will pray over it tonight.

I made a card using the Winter Folic cricut cartridge.  I used my Gypsy to layout my images and cut out at 3.5 inches (I think?)  I also used the Martha Stewart Christmas paper (I think it's called winter).  I am going to catch some sleep and I hope you enjoy the card.

Post It Note Organizer

Good Morning!  Today's project is a post it note organizer.  I scraplifted this project from Angie Juda over at Chicnscratch.  She has such beautiful projects using Stampin' Up! products.  I cannot wait until I can get more Stampin' Up! inventory, but it's not in the budget right now.

Supplies

Pretty in Pink cardstock
Lap in Luxury designer series paper
Whisper White cardstock
Pretty in Pink ink
Old Olive ink
Apple Blossoms Stamp Set

This project is great for small gifts for co-workers.  I am planning on making some more and incorporating my cricut on some.  Look out for an upcoming video on this project.

A smaller post it note can fit at the bottom, but I didn't have any around the house.

Hello Crafters!  Well, today is Cricut Cardz Challenge.  For this challenge, we had to create a card using only Blue, Yellow, Orange, Brown, and White.  I used A Child's Year cricut cartridge.  I found this image using cricutsearch.com.  I love that site because it makes looking a particular images so much easier.

Paper Cutz Challenge #67

I did this layout for the Paper Cutz Challenge.  The challenge was to make a Thanksgiving layout using buttons and bows.  When I did my layout, I forgot to add the bow, but I think it turned out great.  I had a video for this project, but I was too long and I didn't know what should be edited out.

Christmas is in the air

I hope everyone is having a crafty day and I wanted to Happy Veteran's Day to all the men and women who serve this country.

Last week, I stated how inspired I was with all the Christmas cards that I wanted to dedicate some projects to Christmas.  Don't you just love the holidays! Here is a card that I created using my new Snow Angel Imagine Cartridge.  I decided to cut the house out at 4 inches and the sentiment at 2 inches.  This is why I love my Imagine because I see how the images are going to cut on the mat and I don't really have to guess which measurements will cut just right.

I hope everyone has a crafty day!

Club Ruby Kit for November

Here is a video of the latest club ruby kit that I wanted to share with everyone.  I cannot wait to get started on some projects for Thanksgiving.

Planning Objectives - Tips

I am reading this book on writing; the author of the book has made some great suggestions on writing down your objectives for any given period of time.  I found his tips to be very useful and can apply to maintaining a blog, especially if you are as busy as me.

While his objective setting techniques apply to long range projects, there are some good points that he makes.  I have summarized some of his points:

  • Set both short term and long term objectives
  • You can set daily objectives.  In the paper crafting world, this can be: Monday - cut out images needed for this weeks projects; Tuesdays - prepare outline of projects to make for the upcoming week, etc.
  • Maintain a calendar for your long range projects, blocking out known appointments.
  • Keep your objectives where you can see them.
I am working on my objectives now, starting with an outline I of the projects I want to create this week.  I hope that someone can use this tips to help maintain their blog postings.  Have a crafty day!

Christmas Theme

I have been so inspired by the Christmas theme this week at Cricut Cardz Challenge that I am going to dedicate my next couple of projects to Christmas themes.  Hopefully, this will give me my head start on my Christmas cards and gift giving projects.  I hope everyone can join me in gearing up for the 2010 holiday season.

Cricut Card Challenge #49

It's another week for Design Team #2 in Cricut Cardz Challenge.  For this week's challenge, we have to make a Christmas card using any cricut cartridge and colors.  However, the image have be a Christmas image that starts with the letter "S".

For my project, I used the Joys of the Season cricut cartridge.  I used the image of the sleigh.  The materials I used for this project is whisper white cardstock from Stampin' Up!, patterned paper and cardstock from DCWV Christmas Stack and Glittered Christmas Stack.  Also, I used cardstock from Recollections for the image.  I used bashful blue ink from Stampin' Up to create a winter background for my image.  I stamped the sentiment Merry Christmas using the Christmas Past stamp set from Recollections.

I really enjoyed making this card and I hope you get inspired to join us for the challenge at http://cricutcardzchallenge.blogspot.com/.

Love You Card

Well, I am still trying to organize my craft room after being back in my home for a week.  I got so frustrated today that I said I have to get this room done and stop working in the chaos.  So, when I get off from work tomorrow that is what I will be working on. I am in the middle of tearing up my boxes looking for my YourStory.  I think that the moving company never returned it, along with my office chair and Christmas tree.  I am not surprise since they delivered someone else plates to my house.  I told them about their error and has yet come to retrieve the plates.

Any-who,  I created this card using my cricut imagine.  I made a simple card that easily express how I feel about how I feel about that special person.  I used the Best Friends cartridge for this project.  For this project, I decided to double layer the flowers and I added some twine for something extra.  I hope you enjoy.

House Update

Well, I am finally back in my house after two months of living in a hotel.  When my things arrived I was very upset to find some of my things missing.  They stated that there were still boxes at the warehouse, but it's a coincidence that it's my electronics missing.  So imagine my anger, but I will call them tomorrow to tell them that my things need to be delivered immediately.

I am in the middle of getting my craft room in order.  I need to get this room finished with this week being halloween and I have treat bags to make for my daughter's daycare and some for work.  I hope to get my room functioning today so I can bring some more projects to everyone.

You're My Hero! CCC #47

Hello Crafters!  Today is a busy day.  I am finally moving back into my house today.  So, I have been so busy taking things back to my house.  I am finally getting to posting the Cricut Cardz Challenge project.  We had to make a card for Breast Cancer Awareness using any cartridge and color.  I decided to use the Straight from the Nest cricut cartridge and use the caged bird image.  I stamped the sentiment "You are my hero" with the MPS Everyday Occasions stamp set.

Now, I have not known anyone personally who either lost or won their fight against breast cancer.  When I was in middle school my mother won her fight against a brain tumor.  So, I know the courage it takes to fight cancer and how a woman remains so strong to keep the family from falling apart.  To everyone who is fighting breast cancer, you are my hero.

iRock Everyone!

I just wanted to share with everyone that I brought the iRock today.  I was in Michaels looking to see if the Imagine cartridges were going to be sold in that store (and it's not) when I noticed the iRock.  I have so many good things about the product that I decided to purchase it.  Since I am making some projects this weekend, I will be incorporating the iRock into some of the projects.

Butterfly Kisses

Here is a video of my Butterfly Kisses scrapbook page.  I had to post the video in two parts.

Give Thanks

It's Cricut Cardz Challenge time again.  This week we have to make a Thanksgiving card using any colors and cartridge we wanted.  I used Celebrate with Flourish for the image and French Manor for the tag.  I used the Day of Gratitude stamp set from Stampin' Up! for my sentiment. Also, I added some glitter for some added bling.

Come by Cricut Cardz Challenge (link above) and join us in the challenges or get some inspiration.  I know I got some great inspiration from last week's challenge.

What I Love About U

Do you remember the WB show "What I Like About You" with Jennie Garth and Amanda Bynes.  I decided to do a layout of the Top 5 things I love about my daughter.  She is the most crazy little girl and I often ask "Where did I get you from?"

I made a 12x12 layout and I distressed the edges with some vintage distress ink and also I sponged the background.  I took some pattern paper and crinkled it to add some character to the page.  I used the Storybook cricut cartridge with the Imagine to do the title.  I used the Imagine More cartridge for the Top 5 image.

I hope you enjoy the layout.

New Projects Coming

Hello crafters, I know it has been several days since my last posting, but I have been very busy.  This past Saturday I went to my first Stampin' Up! regionals in Baltimore.  I had a blast and was truly inspired.  Then, my uncle from Puerto Rico surprised my grandmother for her birthday.  So, I decided to go to my grandmother's and surprise everyone.  I dropped my daughter off at my mother's house.  I get a break for a week and I am going to take advantage of this week. Hopefully, I won't get sick.  The last time my mom took my daughter, I spent the week sick.

So, I have the Imagine machine going and cut out various images for some projects this week.  I hope to have something posted tomorrow.  Happy Crafting!

Cupcake

Hello Crafters! Robyn, a.k.a My Pink Stamper, is having a challenge today.  The challenge is to make something using the Cricut Imagine and add some bling to the project.  Now, if you do not own an Imagine, you can use your Expression.

I created a scrapbook layout using the Yummy cartridge.  I cut out the image with the word cupcake using the combine layering feature.  Also, I cut out a cupcake at 3.5 inches (I think) using the layering feature.  I decided to cut 2 cupcakes out at 1.5 inches and popped it out.  I popped out the bigger cupcake too!

For my bling, I added some glitter glue to the swirl of the big cupcake.

I added red glitter glue to the cherries of the smaller cupcakes.

Finally, I added some rhinestones to the cupcake accent.
Happy Crafting!!!

You are My Sunshine

I know it's been a couple of days since my last posting, but I have been busy getting some creative juices and working.  Here is a card I made using the Cricut Imagine Better Together cartridge.  I kept all the original colors except for the sun rays, which I changed from orange to yellow to match card and pattern paper.  I added three flowers with a pearl brad for some added accents.  Hope you enjoy!

My Pink Stamper's Challenge

My Pink Stamper is having a challenge today where we have to make a project using a bird.  Here is my project.

Cricut Imagine Card

I am excited to bring you my first video featuring an Imagine project.  I have tried to do a couple of videos, but I was always interrupted by a certain busy body.  Finally, I just accepted that when my daughter sees a camera that it's showtime.  I had to split the video into 2 parts since youtube will only allow me to post 10 minute videos.  I hope everyone will enjoy.

Cricut Cardz challenge #43

Hello everyone! Today is another Cricut Cardz Challenge for Team #2.  This week we had to create a baby card using on green, yellow, white and orange only. I decided to use the Cricut Imagine Nursery Tails cartridge.

I made a 5x5 card and used my corner rounder on the edges.  Next, I made a 4.5x4.5 pattern layer using Nursery Tails. I added a third layer at 4x4 inches and rounded the corners.  I printed and cut the bottle at 3.5 inches.  I kept the colors in the bottle, but I did change the color of bird from blue to green.  I added a bow made from knitting thread. I added three flowers and accented them with crystal bling.

Please join us over at Cricut Cardz Challenge to show off your cards and gain some great inspiration.  I know I do! Enjoy!

Cards that I put together

Here are some cards that I put together using a card kit from HSN.

Cricut Imagine

Hello everyone! I know that it has been days since I have post a project, but I have been extremely busy and tired.  Now, I am battling food poisoning.  I had a video planned for today displaying opening my Cricut Imagine.  When I got to my mother's house, I discovered that I left my needed cord at the hotel.  So, I am going to publish the video tomorrow.  Later tonight, I am going to post some other projects that I have worked on.  Hope everyone enjoy your day!

Monday, September 13, 2010

I just purchased the Cricut Imagine

HSN has the Imagine ready for purchase.  I just paid for mine as a Christmas gift for me.  I did the two shipping since I am displaced out of my house and I prefer for it to come to the hotel.  I will definitely post some projects on either Wednesday or Thursday.

This week's schedule

Hello crafters! I had planned a project for today, but I got home late.  I have my accounting class at 9 pm est and then I will be preparing for the Cricut Imagine premiere.  I was so excited last night that I got no sleep.  I am running on empty and I have to get up at 5am for work.  If there is life left in me tomorrow, I will definitely post a project tomorrow.

Postmarked with Love

Hello my fellow crafters!  Today, I am bring you a card from the 3 Birds on Parade cricut cartridge.  I thought that this was such a cute image when I was flipping through the handbook that I decided to make a card.  I hope you enjoy the card.

Thursday, September 9, 2010

Great News

I have received 1000 hits and this is great.  I want to thank everyone who have visited my blog.  This gives me some great inspiration.  I am planning on getting the new Cricut Imagine, which is going to be my Christmas gift to myself, and posting some more projects.  My family and I are still living in a hotel until my home gets repaired from the storm that hit Northern Va. last month.  I am trying to maintain a workable schedule to remain posting on a daily basis.  With work, grad school and a bossy 3-year-old, life is very business, but I am dedicated on expanding my paper crafting skills.

Is there anyone else planning on getting the cricut imagine?

Cricut cardz challenge #41

Updated!!!

Hello crafters! Today I am super excited.  This is my very first Cricut Cardz Challenge as a design team member.

This week challenge is to create a fall card using any cartridge but we could not use the colors brown, orange, and yellow.

I have a standard A2 size card (4 1/4 x 5 1/2) that I used using the DCWV colored assorted cards.  I found a cute DCWV cardstock pad with all autumn colors, which helped with trying to find my theme for the card.  I used the Everyday Paper Dolls to cut the leaves.  I used a cream cardstock and sponged a firebrick red distressing ink on top of them.  I used a recollections stamp set I got from Michael's to stamp the leaves in old olive and rich razzleberry from Stampin' Up!

I want to welcome everyone to join in the Cricut Cardz Challenge and show off your talents and gain some inspiration.  Enjoy your day!!

Creating Your Own Scrapbook Kits - Tip of the Day

Hello Crafters! Today, I am sharing with you a tip I found on Scrapbook.com.  I was trying to find some time savings tips for doing my crafting.  There are times when I am so exhausted after work that I am too tired to do anything.  Or I find myself wasting more time on trying to find the right colors to go with the images  I want to create.  Sometimes I forget that I do not have to use the suggested colors in the cricut cartridge handbook.  Any woo, I find this to be very frustrating.  Well, one day I was on Scrapbook.com reading different articles, when I came across an article on Creating Your Own Kits.

The author of the article created this formula for making your kits:

  • 6 sheets of 12" x 12" cardstock (2 pieces of 3 colors)
  • 4 to 6 sheets of coordinating patterned papers
  • 1 set of alphabet stickers, chipboard letters, or rub-ons (you can probably substitute theses for your cricut images and any stamping products)
  • journaling cards, journal-box stamped images, printed quotes, etc.
  • 3-D elements that coordinate with the themes, colors, or patterns
    • buttons
    • ribbons
    • bling
    • chipboard shapes
I think that taking a day to do these kits can save time throughout the week to sit down and create your pages.  This same formula can be used in your card making.  Create your kits for the cards that you are planning to create for week.  Also, I believe that this is great tool for those of us that blog, but have a very business schedule.  I can't wait to sit down and try this time saving technique to see how this works out and of course I will keep everyone posted.

Simple Thank You Card

Here is a simple "Thank You" card using the Forever Young cricut cartridge.  I believe that I cut the flower image out at about 5 inches.  All of the cardstock used was from recollections.  I used a flower border embossing folder, which was ran through the cuttlebug.  I popped up the image using Stampin' dimensionals from Stampin' Up!

Run to the Wild

Hello Crafters!! Today I am posting a card that I made previously, but did not get around to posting.  The cardstock and pattern paper are from Stampin' Up!  I watermarked the base cardstock using the Watercolor Trio from Stampin' Up!  I used the horse image from a stamp set from Michael's.  I used watercolor paint to color in the horse and his mane. Enjoy!

Thank You Card

I made this card for my design team submission.  I thought that this was sooo cute.  I used the create-a-critter cartridge to make the monkey.  I added some bling with the green jewels.  The cardstock I used was Recollections from Michaels.  I used the MPS stamps from the Everyday Occasions ( I think!)  I used a EK Success border punch on the patterned paper.

OWL RIGHTY THEN...

Hello Crafters! You know the one thing that my mother and I say when we are about to hang up the phone? Owl Righty or is it al-righty. Since the day my daughter has been able to talk, she has caught on to our catch phrase and it is so cute.  So, when I purchased the Hoot-n-Holler cricut lite cartridge and saw the phrase, I couldn't resist doing a scrapbook page.  So, I want to share it with you.

Hello Kitty Love You Card

Hello Crafters!!! I am trying to keeping my head up with everything dealing with my house.  I am trying to get back on schedule even from a hotel.  I have been crafting almost every night, unless I was super tired from the stress of trying to get my home back to livable conditions.

Today's cricut cartridge spotlight is on Hello Kitty.  A couple of weeks ago, I brought several of books/magazines on card making.  I got the idea of creating a single page card and to layer it with a regular card.

I cut a piece of 12 x 12 red Brazzil cardstock down to 8 x 8.

Using an Love You. stamp, I stamped Love You all over the cardstock using Stampin' Up! real red and bashful blue ink.

I used a hearts border punch on black cardstock.  Also, I used designer pattern paper for a layered border. Sorry, I don't remember the measurements.

I use the Hello Kitty image out a 3 1/2 inches.  Using the card feature and silhouette  , I cut the present image

Hope you enjoy!
